The Linie 8 STARWOOL MAXI by ONline is made of extra-fine merino wool (100 percent virgin wool). For those, who prefer merino wool over Icelandic wool, you can knit with Linie 8 everything that is knitted with Alafosslopi yarn. The two types of wool have about the same yarn strength. Linie 8 STARWOOL MAXI is certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
Merino wool is essentially both, breathable and insulating. That means it has a cooling effect in summer and gives warmth in winter. In addition, the wool of the merino sheep is particularly soft and fine.
The fiber consists of 85 percent air, which makes it so breathable and delicate as it is. Another special characteristic of the fiber is that the wool does not itch. The merino sheep originates from North Africa and belongs to the so-called fine wool sheep.
