Bulkylopi (Jöklalopi) is the thickest Icelandic Wool, which makes it perfect for outdoor clothing that is supposed to keep really warm.
The color selection of the Icelandic Wool Bulkylopi (Jöklalopi) comes in nine colors. The colors range from natural white to shades of grey and brown, as well as black, whereas the black wool is the only dyed wool.
In order to not only be able to knit the thick and warm Bulkylopi (Jöklalopi) wool exclusively in grey and brown, we started twisting other wool colors from Plötulopi into Bulkylopi strength. That makes us the only manufacturer that offers multicolored and colorful Icelandic Wool in Bulkylopi strength. However, the color selection of our twisted Bulkylopi wool does not only include the colors of the Plötulopi color selection, but we also mix different colors together into a blend and thus, create balls in individual colors. This is how we get balls in unique wool colors that only we carry and offer.

Just choose your favorite color combination and we will even twist a small sample ball and knit a little sample piece for you. That way you can see how your personal color looks when already knitted. In addition to the single balls of wool, we also offer a wide range of knitting kits. These include the amount of wool for the selected size and the pattern with detailed knitting instructions (for all sizes) in German. Instructions and patterns in English upon request.
The LOPI yarn comes from a unique breed of sheep from Iceland. The special Icelandic Wool is very resistant to extreme weather conditions and yet soft and comfortable. This is due to a special characteristic of the wool of the Icelandic sheep. It consists of two types of hair: the inner hair is very soft and insulates cold, the outer hair is longer, firmer and water-repellent. Without the Icelandic sheep, Iceland would not have been habitable for the Vikings thousands of years ago. The sheep breed is unique in the world and its wool is designed for the Nordic climate.
With the different yarn strengths, it is not only possible to knit thick Icelandic sweaters with Icelandic wool, but also thinner garments and even light cloths. The LOPI yarn is a natural raw material, which on the one hand offers high quality and on the other hand is environmentally friendly. In the processing of the wool there are sources like geothermal energy and hydroelectric power used.
